How A Sister Became A Father To Four Siblings

How A Sister Became A Father To Four Siblings

In this big world though there are strong women, not all can do what Renesa Necosia has done. Meet my cousin Renesa, born prematurely on March 4, 1987 as the eldest. Her mother Rebecca stopped working as a Government employee to take care of her.

During her elementary life she was a tame girl. She graduated as salutatorian and received a scholarship in High School. Though she’s a scholar they still suffer from poverty. Her father’s salary as foreman wasn’t enough to raise 5 children.

But despite it, she did everything she could to help her family. She went to school walking, saving every centavo she could, sacrificing every breath she has, and keeping all the pain within her. She studied hard. All her efforts were not in vain for she was rewarded. She was the first honorable mention.

She thought she couldn’t make it to college but she passed in the scholarship exam. In taking up HRM or Hotel and Restaurant Management she gained the award as best in serving. During that time, life was even more difficult. Her father had no permanent job.

However it didn’t discourage her, instead it inspired her to pursue on what she had started. After college, she went to Cebu. Trying to look what fate had decided to give her, she found a job. She worked hard for her family.

One day, she received news. She fell down from being strong to weak. As she was walking alone, tears fell. She walked like she was out of her mind, didn’t know where to go, and didn’t notice where she was.

She went back to her homeland, Cabadbaran. Even from a distance, outside the house she saw her mother crying. She took pity on her. She felt the pain she never felt before. Her heart was like crumpled down upon seeing her family like that. All her hopes and dreams were like an airplane crushing down from a very tall height.

She came near them. She looked at the face of the man inside the coffin and sobbed. It was her father. It was the man she ever loved. It was the man who made her strong. She touched the glass of the coffin as if it was her father’s face. She cried all her tears away. How could a man who showed her a great hope left just like that?

It wasn’t easy for her. She was not given the chance to see her father in his last breath; she didn’t even hug him at the last moment of his life. It was too late to say “I love you” because her father can no longer hear it. Holding so tight at the edge of the coffin she uttered a promise. She would stand as the father; she will never ever let them suffer.

After the burial she came back to Cebu so weak. But because of the promise she made, she withstand all the trials. She remembered what her father had told her, “Be strong and have faith in God in every trial you have faced, don’t put hatred in your heart for it will do nothing but let you down”. It served as her guide till now.

Now that she’s in Taiwan working for her family and for the future, whenever she got tired she always pray to God. She helps in raising her four siblings. She’s like a father to them. Being away isn’t easy but she has to do it for the promise and for the love she is willing to sacrifice. She serves God and an active member of the church choir.

She realized, in every trials that comes in our life we must be strong always and learn to accept the fact that nothing’s permanent in this world. There are many changes in our life. And…those are hers.
