What It Takes To Be Edeson Villarias

Life is full of surprises. Change is the only constant thing. We often thought on things that will never change but found out afterwards that it has already changed. Sometimes we thought that it would last forever but there isn't forever in this living world.

Life is about acceptance; accepting what is given and accepting what you lose. It may seem awkward that after accepting something you must be ready to accept that you are going to lose it someday. It may confuse us all that after believing we will never change you just wake up one day as a new you.

Life is about learning in every possible way. As the saying goes, "Experience is the best teacher." We learn in every experience. We never forgot those moments that wakes us up. It remains fresh in our memories through the years; may it is painful or not.

Mr. Edeson Villarias, 20 years of age & a teacher from Saint Genevieve, shared the part of his life which has changed and motivated him. He is the son of Mr. Job Villarias and Monina Villarias. According to him, he became what he is today because of the things that inspired him. I was inspired by his story and was moved by it.

It was still fresh in his mind when he was in Primary School he never had permanent friends. He was very naughty but he didn't speak in front of a crowd. No girls would chose him as friend because every time they went near him he fought with them. He thought lots of people hated him for being like that.

Until such time, he was involved in a fight. His enemy had hit his jaw. Because of this, he had a fever for a week. It was really painful. So from that moment on, he stayed away from fights. He learned that being naughty and getting involved in fights would do him no good. He changed or shall I say he was changed.

When he was in Grade 5, he learned to make friends with a naughty boy. They became naughty in front of the class but staying away from fights. Their teacher got angry with this. His friend was often called during oral exams but he couldn't answer. So, his teacher thought that Edeson was also dull. His teacher called him for an oral also but got nothing to say. Why, because Edeson could answer besides his naughtiness. He can learn easily. He was able to answer all the questions the teacher has thrown to him. So, he was more exposed. He started to take away his shyness and learned to speak in crowd.

Another experience he shared is, when he was young he loves to go to the river with his cousins and friends. They would swim there. He was the one who did not swim during that time. They didn't notice that the river starts to overflow. His friend was left behind. He couldn't pass anymore. They were all afraid. Nobody dared to get him except for one, Edeson. He got the courage to save his friend. It took so long before he finally got him. He never thought he could do it. Now, he really believes that a person can do anything if it need be.

He experienced all these naughtiness and changes during his primary schooling. As young as that he found out that he could help others through courage and that he could change his attitude for the better through his experiences. During this time he also found out that he could have friends but not at all times good.

In his High School life, there he found a real friend. In ups and downs they were always by his side. From that, he believed in the saying, "A real friend only comes ones in a lifetime" because he never found anyone like them till now. They were there for him no matter what happen. They walk in when the rest walks out. They shared happy moments together and helped out each other through the bad times.

He had lots of friends and joined a band in College. He was the Black Mantra's bassist They perform in school and in different places. He got what it takes to be a bassist of a band while studying. From it, he learned to have a good PR or Public Relationship.

He is a good servant of God. If he performs good in front of a crowd with his band, he performs a lot better in front of God while he does his responsibilities. He showed his best in all fields of his life. He is kind and a fun-loving person. He is an efficient teacher. He is caring, intelligent and above all he gives inspiration to those hearts that he has touched and…I am one of those.
